Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is difficult to diagnose and is often missed and overlooked by conventional medicine. As much as 80% of cases are missed according to the Centers for Disease Control. There is no diagnostic lab test or biomarker that can be used to diagnose this debilitating disease. The symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are common to many other illnesses which only adds to the confusion. To make matters worse, 70% of patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

The Centers for Disease Control state that certain conditions must be present in order for this diagnosis to be made: severe incapacitating fatigue that is NOT relieved by rest or sleep, dramatic decline in stamina and daily activities, and this fatigue must be present for 6 months or more. Characteristic symptoms must also be present.

Impaired concentration, memory loss, brain fog Joint pain, muscle pain Headaches Sore throat, swollen lymph nodes Exhausted after physical or mental activity Night sweats, chills Irritable Bowel Syndrome Chronic Cough Chest pain Shortness of breath Multiple allergies Dizziness, loss of balance Anxiety, depression, irritability

A large portion of the research into this debilitating disease comes from Europe and especially Germany where I was fortunate to study with German medical doctors that specialize in Biological Medicine. The German research indicates that the primary culprit is viral in nature. A large percentage of the patients diagnosed with this malady have antibodies to Epstein Barr Virus (EBV). In addition, many patients also have antibodies to other viruses such as Coxsackie, Cytomegalo and Herpes viruses. The sickest patients have antibodies to several or all of these viruses.

Some 219 patients who were diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome were placed on a specific anti-viral program utilizing complex homeopathy. Symptoms were present for periods of several months to 30 years. All of the participants tested positive to antibodies to Epstein Barr, Cocksackie, and Cytomegalo viruses. The patients were given specific homeopathic remedies twice per week for a total of six weeks. Significant improvement in overall physical health, function, and alleviation of persistent symptoms. Complete recovery was seen in 82% of patient participants within the six week program.

At our clinic we do NOT treat disease. We treat the person. Yes, we have tremendous success in the treatment of individuals with diagnosed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I utilize the protocols I learned in Germany. The first step is detoxification with both homeopathic and herbal formulas. Then I set about to improve the immune system in order to inactivate the viruses. This includes spinal manipulation, non-needle acupuncture, dietary modification, as well as vitamin/mineral therapy.
